The remains, believed to be human bones, were found under a tree with a rope tied to it, raising suspicion that the deceased may have died by suicide.

Kazungula Police Station commander, Peter Masole, told The Monitor that police received a report from a passer-by who was walking through the bush when he noticed what appeared to be human remains.

“After receiving the report, we rushed to the scene and retrieved the bones,” he said.

Masole explained that three bones were found at the scene and appeared to be human, although this has not yet been confirmed.

“The bones were three in number and looked like human remains, but we can only confirm after laboratory tests.

“Beside the bones, there was a bag, and on the tree above, a rope was tied, which led us to suspect that someone might have committed suicide,” he said.

Masole added that the remains have since been taken to the laboratory for further examination and analysis.

He said investigations are ongoing, and police are awaiting forensic results to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Masole has appealed to members of the public who may have information relating to missing persons in the area to come forward and assist with investigations.
