Mogoditshane Police Station acting commander, Assistant Superintendent Mompoloki Ramaphoi, said the incident occurred around 6 am after the victims had left a nightclub.
He said the suspects allegedly found the owner of a Mazda Demio standing next to his vehicle in Block 6. They reportedly forced him into his car, stole his mobile phone and cash, and drove towards Tsolamosese with him and his two female companions who were in the car.
“The suspects allegedly used force to abduct the victims. The young man sustained stab wounds to his hands and thigh during the attack,” Ramaphoi said.
Whilst travelling along a gravel road in Tsolamosese, the suspects allegedly stopped another Mazda Demio driven by a 32-year-old man. They reportedly threatened him with a sharp object and robbed him of his mobile phone and car battery before leaving him stranded.
Ramaphoi said the suspects’ escape was cut short when their vehicle hit a pothole and had a puncture.
“Whilst they were trying to change the tyre, one of the female victims, who had hidden her phone, managed to alert the police, and they responded swiftly and arrested the suspects at the scene,” he said.
Following their arrest, police recovered all the stolen items, including mobile phones, cash, and a car battery. The two suspects, aged 27 and 29, are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
