Born Odirile Sento, the artist says he met his now fiancée, Sphalaphala (real name Kwetla Tersia Lesekane) through social media in 2023.
“We met through work. I had reached out to her because I needed her services as an influencer. As artists at times you need influencers to push your work,” Vee says.
“I reached out to her online to push my song and what started as a talk about work eventually led to a close relationship.”
At the time Vee Mampeezy was going through his messy public divorce with ex-wife, Kagiso Sento.
Asked if their divorce was final at the time he started his relationship with the South African, Vee says, “Yes we met a year later. We started talking in 2023, my divorce was finalised in 2022. My divorce was very big in Limpopo because of the whole Makhadzi issue. She also felt that she (Makhadzi) had a role to play in my divorce, so we talked about that and other things.”
Vee continued, “We talked about a lot of things, religion, and everything. We would talk for hours. I remember there was a time she had a gig in Namibia and we talked the whole time. And I convinced her to come to Botswana and we met physically for the first time and the rest is history.”
The couple, which has one child between them will get married before the end of the year but Vee Mampeezy is mum about the date. “You know our families already say we share too much on social media so for now I will just say it will happen this year. We will start off with a celebration in Limpopo and then a Botswana celebration.”
He says he has learnt lessons from his previous marriage. Vee says the divorce was hardest on his children. “My youngest one honestly did not know what was happening. She would ask me where mommy was and I wouldn’t know how to answer.'
Now Vee says, his two older children with his ex wife are fond of Sphalaphala.
“In my former marriage I made a lot of mistakes, both me and my ex-wife and now we look back and we both know we should have done better. We should have handled a lot of things better, some of the things that went public shouldn’t have gone public,” Vee shared.
On his relationship with his ex-wife, Vee says “We co-parent very well. We are cool.”
