TAFIC currently sit in position 15 on the FNB Premiership log.
Speaking after their 0-0 draw with Township Rollers, Sonny said new signings are important and have brought the necessary skills that may assist the team climb out of the relegation zone.
'We are very much hopeful and believe in ourselves. We are able to see ourselves out of that position,' Sonny said.
Sonny emphasised the need to focus on the present and play games as they come, rather than worrying about the relegation threat.
'We are in a difficult position, but we have to take it one game at a time,' he said.
Sonny added they have been working on the psychology of the players, preparing them for any outcome. Regarding the game, he noted that they played well and knew their opponents were a big team.
He stated that they have not been scoring goals and they wanted to multiply their chances by going all out.
'We wanted to try and occupy all the areas that we fear Rollers could pose danger. We tried to cut all the channels that they could play into,' he added.
Sonny indicated that the only worrying part was when they gave them too many set pieces.
'We took a point; we go and prepare for the next game,' he continued. For his side, Rollers assistant coach, Edwin Moalosi praised his team's performance, but lamented their struggles with a centre forward.
'Honestly, we are struggling with the centre forward. We don't have a straight centre forward or a natural number nine,' he said.
Moalosi explained that the team has a young centre forward who is new to the league and still struggling to adapt. He said they are trying to give him time to learn.
'We have a small squad and we have three key players that are injured. The situation is tough, but we need to deliver results,' said Moalosi.
Moalosi shared that the situation keeps getting worse. He stated that both management and supporters need results.
Their main focus, he stated, is to get more points and use whatever resources and players they have. 'We try to grab points, but we don't have enough players.'
Despite the challenges, Moalosi was pleased with the point gained away from home.
'We got a point away, and we are not leaving with nothing,' he said.
