End of an era as Mfolo leaves BFA

First seconded from the Ministry of Higher Education on a two-year deal, he survived the usual turbulence that has characterised the highly political environment at BFA.
Obituaries of most chief executives are usually written well before the ink has dried on the contract.
But Mfolo weaved through storms, which temporarily took him out in 2020, before a recall in 2022 under the leadership of Maclean Letshwiti.
With a change of guard ushering in Tariq Babitseng as the new president in 2024, Mfolo was expected to move on as new management usually prefers its own candidate.
But for almost 18 months, Babitseng persisted with Mfolo. However, that relationship will fold at the end of February, bringing to an end Mfolo's stay at the mother body.
Mfolo confirmed his departure but would not immediately say where he was going.
Babitseng did not respond to enquiries regarding Mfolo's departure, who reportedly opted against renewing his contract.
Early candidates for the post include Sydney Magagane and BFA chief operations officer, Kago Mosinyi, with more names expected as the jostling takes shape.
