The local Afro Jazz singer, famed for his soulful love songs, is set to take the stage at Botswana Craft on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14.
This year's event promises to be bigger and much better, with Lister Boleseng performing live, showcasing his latest album, 'Moratiso.' According to his manager, Tlamelo Letlole, also known as Petleke, the album is a tribute to the power of natural love, emphasizing the importance of giving love to one's partner and nurturing a sense of love and compassion in the nation.
'Moratiso is about the beauty of natural love,' Letlole explained. 'It's about how giving love to a partner is very important and can nurture the nation to love each other.'
The event will feature two sets, with the first set comprising slow love songs and the second set featuring upbeat jazz numbers. And, as a special treat, there will be a surprise artist performing, who will be revealed on the day.
What sets Lister Boleseng apart from other jazz artists is his unique skill as a saxophonist, a talent that has captivated audiences and earned him a reputation as one of Botswana's finest jazz musicians. One of his most beloved songs, 'Ke Swa Fela', was inspired by a moment of love and creativity, when he recorded the song as a token of love for his wife, showing that love is beyond material things.
However, hosting live jazz events comes with its challenges. Letlole lamented that the cost of hosting live jazz was high, citing the expense of equipment and backup singers. He also expressed concern that the youth did not appreciate jazz music, believing it was only for senior citizens.
Despite these challenges, Letlole is optimistic that Lister Boleseng's music is helping to promote local jazz and encourage people to appreciate the genre. 'Boleseng's music encourages people to appreciate local jazz,' he said. 'His music sells the country's cultural tourism and is folklore music.'
The event will take place at Botswana Craft, a venue chosen for its cultural ambiance, local dishes, and secure premises. Gates will be closed, and car marshals will be on hand to ensure the safety of attendees.
The event will start at 12 noon and run until 8 pm. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the magic of Lister Boleseng's music and celebrate love and romance with friends and loved ones.
