Moeng joined Galaxy at the start of last season on a one-year contract from Namibian club FC Ongos.
The former Security Systems and BDF XI shot stopper now heads north on a short-term deal with the Zambian side, marking her third stint in African leagues after spells in Namibia and South Africa following her departure from Botswana in 2024. Speaking to MmegiSport, the player’s representative, Katlego Maphorisa of Orlange Sports Management, confirmed that Moeng has already left for Lusaka to complete the move.
“Lesego left today (Tuesday) to finalise the move in Lusaka,” Maphorisa stated.
“Her contract with TS Galaxy came to an end after the season ended in December, and she has now signed a six-month deal with ZISD FC. If things go well, there is a possibility of extending for a longer term.”
Moeng becomes the second Motswana player currently plying her trade in the Zambian elite league, alongside midfielder-cum-defender Mokgabo Thanda, who turns out for Green Buffaloes.
ZISD FC, who are still chasing their maiden league title, are regarded as a developing force in Zambian women’s football.
However, the side is enduring a difficult campaign and currently sits 17th in the 18-team league. They have conceded 62 goals, suffered 14 defeats in 21 matches, and recorded just two wins in the 34-round season.
In total, five Mares players are currently active in African leagues. Full-back Boitumelo ‘Navara’ Gammu features for FC Ongos in Namibia, while Sedilame Bosija and Refilwe Tholakele clinched the 2025 league title with Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa late last year.
Thanda and Moeng are based in Zambia, whilst defender Lone Gaofetoge has returned to Turkey after a short-term loan spell at Gaborone United.
Meanwhile, Esalenna Galekhutle, Bame Ngenda, and Bame Mokime are pursuing college football in the United States. The nine players are expected to be part of the Mares squad for the 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship scheduled for later this month.
On the domestic front, Double Action have signed attacking midfielder Dimpho Sedirwa from Orapa United. Sedirwa marked her debut with a goal in a 5-0 victory over Makgabz City last weekend. Jwaneng Galaxy have secured the services of Mares forward Laone Moloi from Security Systems, while Serati Modisenyane has made a cross-town switch from Double Action to Gaborone United.
