Mahalapye Police Station commander, Superintendent Ntoko Simane, told The Monitor that the accident occurred at around 8pm shortly after the vehicle passed the Tropic of Capricorn.
Simane added that although the vehicle collided with and killed a cow, the minister, his private secretary, and the driver escaped uninjured.
He explained that Dikoloti was travelling to the northern part of the country to attend Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) kgotla meetings.
“Following the accident, the minister and his team managed to continue with his journey to Francistown after being assisted with another vehicle in the area, as he had a 9am kgotla meeting at Jackalas No.1 on Sunday.
“However, the Toyota Fortuner they were travelling in sustained damage,” revealed the police chief.
The Police have once again cautioned motorists to exercise vigilance, especially at night, due to livestock frequently straying onto the highway.
Furthermore, police pleaded with farmers to consider being more intentional with kraaling their livestock at night as accidents involving livestock continue to claim lives.
