With just a P300 fuel purchase at a Shell service station in Pilane, Motshegwe unknowingly set in motion a journey that ended with him driving away in a brand-new Toyota GD6, the grand prize of Shell Botswana’s 19-week Bozza Tsa Tsela promotion.

The campaign concluded on Saturday morning at the Shell Mmamashia Service Station, bringing to a close nearly five months of excitement that saw customers rewarded with cash, fuel vouchers, Volkswagen Polo Vivo vehicles, and the coveted GD6. Motshegwe, who does not own a car and relies on borrowed vehicles and public transport, said the win came as a complete shock. “I was just helping my sibling by using their car that day. I only bought fuel worth P300. I never thought something like this could happen to me,” he said.

Eighteen customers from across the country made it to the grand finale, each hoping to walk away with the top prize. Whilst Motshegwe claimed the GD6, the remaining 17 finalists did not leave empty-handed, each receiving P5,000 cash prizes. The Bozza Tsa Tsela promotion ran nationwide, encouraging customers to fuel up at Shell stations and purchase Shell Helix lubricants to stand a chance of winning. Throughout the 19 weeks, Vivo Energy Botswana, which markets and distributes Shell products locally, gave away multiple rewards, including four Volkswagen Polo vehicles, before crowning the ultimate winner.

Speaking at the finale, Vivo Energy Botswana Marketing and Communications Manager Gaamangwe Ramokgothwane said the campaign was aimed at rewarding loyalty and building strong relationships with customers. “We believe brands are built not only through products but through relationships. This promotion was designed to translate everyday customer loyalty into tangible and meaningful rewards,” he said. For Motshegwe, the GD6 represents more than just a new vehicle.

“This car will change my life. It will make everything easier, work, family responsibilities, everything. I am very grateful,” he said. As Shell Botswana wrapped up one of its biggest reward campaigns, the company thanked customers nationwide for their continued support. But for one man from Mochudi, a simple stop at a fuel station turned into a moment that will be remembered forever, proving that sometimes, life-changing opportunities come from the most ordinary days.
