DJ Lex-B brings the House gown with rhythm

Hailing from Lobatse, the talented DJ has been turning heads since 2006, when he first started experimenting with deejaying using a laptop. Lex B’s music career started in Lobatse, where he laid the foundation of his deejaying journey and built his early experience in the industry. “I want my fans to feel joy, unity, and authenticity through my music,” Lex B says, explaining his approach to deejaying in an interview with Arts&Culture. His sound is a fusion of deep and soulful house, classic house, Hip-Hop, R&B, Kwaito, and more, making him a versatile DJ who can adapt to any crowd or environment. Lex B’s big break came when he met DJ Sghubu, who introduced him to professional DJ decks, marking a turning point in his growth. “I was influenced by DJ Mox, DJ Sono, and DJ Tallied, whose work inspired me to take deejaying seriously,” he recalls. One of his most memorable gigs was at an establishment in Mahikeng, South Africa, where the crowd truly appreciated his mixing style.
“The energy and positive feedback made it a very special and affirming experience,” he says. Lex B is passionate about giving back to his community, volunteering at events, and using social media to market himself. He is also excited about upcoming projects, including his annual music festival, The Last Saturday in Lobatse, and potential collaborations with new establishments. “I constantly listen to new releases, follow DJs and producers, and stay active on digital platforms,” Lex B says, explaining how he stays current with new music and trends. He also supports local artists and keeps an ear to what’s trending locally and internationally. When it comes to advice, Lex B values patience, professionalism, and staying true to the craft. “Some of the best advice I have received has come from experienced DJs who are doing well in the industry,” he says.
He is currently residing in Lentsweletau, where he continues to stay active in the music scene and regularly performs at The Exclusive Lounge and other establishments in and around the area. With his unique sound and infectious energy, DJ Lex B is sure to continue making waves in Botswana’s music scene. As he says, “I connect with my fans by being consistent, approachable, and always giving my best on and off the stage”. Lex B’s dedication to his craft is evident in every beat he drops, and his passion for music is contagious.
