The Serowe hiking club founder and event coordinator, Osego Maseka explained that the inaugural event will offer a full-day hiking experience beginning with a sunrise hike at 06:00 hours and concluding with a dinner in the evening open for couples and individuals. Maseka further said that the event will be centered on nature, wellness and genuine connections topped with scrumptious cuisines. He stated that they are targeting about 50 people to participate in the love and hiking event. Maseka also said they are targeting a manageable crowd for the event in order to prioritise safety and protection of the participants. He explained that the terrain is bushy, so they want to ensure that everyone arrives safely. Maseka indicated that the event aims to help couples bond and focus on their mental and physical health. He also said that tickets are selling well, and as such, they are confident they will reach their target.
Speaking about the Serowe hiking club, Maseka stated that the club is a community-driven outdoor organisation built on a simple idea, thus walking together creates stronger, healthier communities. He stated that the club goes beyond fitness to offer a welcoming space where people can connect, unwind and experience the beauty of Botswana‘s natural landscapes. Additionally, he said that the club is committed to steady growth and meaningful participation within the hiking community. He stated that their planned initiatives include regular themed hikes, participation in national events such as the Jwaneng Bush walk, Mmabesi Memorial walk and Hike and future involvement in international experiences, including the Moshoeshoe Walk in Lesotho. Through such efforts, he said that the hiking club aims to promote wellness tourism while ensuring Serowe remains an active and visible contributor to the wider outdoor community.
