The national show which featured prominent lawyer Uyapo Ndadi allegedly barred listeners from airing their usual views on air, an unusual move for the popular interactive programme.

According to reports from Mass Media complex, Montsosa has since been replaced by veteran broadcaster Lesego Mohutshiwa.

A source close to the developments told MmegiOnline that Montsosa has been “benched” by “the powers that be,” who are now uncertain about his future at RB1. The source claims that Montsosa made an off-air remark that later surfaced on Facebook during Ndadi’s live broadcast.

“Di instructions tsa golo ha gatwe re seka ra tsaa megala (Instructions from here are that we should not take calls),” Montsosa is heard saying towards the end of Ndadi’s live feed. The source further revealed that panic has gripped the RB1 Current Affairs team, with Montsosa allegedly being sacrificed to shield others from the fallout.

With Montsosa taking the fall for the Friday Masaasele incident, his co-host Mohumi Modise has returned to air, this time alongside Mohutshiwa.

“That’s a prime slot. People want it. Some have been waiting for a chance to remove Montsosa. The Friday show was just an excuse. There’s too much politics and pushing behind the scenes, it’s toxic,” the source said.

A former Duma FM presenter, Montsosa had been widely praised for revitalisng Masaasele following the death of iconic broadcaster Thuso ‘Thusoski’ Letlhoma in 2020. With Letlhoma’s shoes too big to fill, Montsosa was viewed by many listeners as a natural successor. When contacted for comment, Montsosa declined to speak to this publication and ended the call.

Efforts to solicit comments from the acting director (broadcasting) Buyani Zongwane were futile at press time as he has not responded to questions sent to him via WhatsApp and text messages.
