The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to responsible gaming and sustainable development across Botswana, with the funding aimed at supporting local programmes that address key social challenges, including youth empowerment and health-related initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Sunbet Botswana General Manager Tsholofelo Makgoeng said the company’s role goes beyond gaming, emphasising its responsibility to contribute positively to the communities in which it operates.
“We’re not just in the gaming business; we are invested in building stronger communities,” Makgoeng said.
Bona Naledi coordinator, Boitshepo Nyathi, expressed gratitude to Sunbet Botswana for the support, describing the donation as a valuable extension of the organisation’s existing efforts to reach and empower young people.
She said the funding will help Bona Naledi continue its work in addressing mental health, life skills development, and character development amongst youth. “We will use this sponsorship to continue our mandate towards reaching out to young people on issues of mental health, life skills development, and character development,” Nyathi said.
Nyathi further explained that in March, during the Youth Against AIDS month, Bona Naledi will use sport as a platform to host tournaments aimed not only at participation, but also at empowering young people and sharing important information.
“We will also donate uniforms to young people to ensure their learning is comfortable, that they feel equal and receive the same opportunities as everyone,” she added.
