Hwenjere is accused of brutally killing his cousin, Victor Mashenge by striking him on the head with a rock at Ramotswa before throwing his body in the pit latrine.

The deceased was eventually buried out without his manhood when the police retrieved his body from a pit latrine.

Appearing before Extension II Magistrate Court, the State representative Simon Galebonwe stated that the case is nearing completion and will be handed over to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for committal.

He emphasized that only a few details are left before the file is complete.

“The investigations in the matter are still on going but they are nearing completion as we are still waiting for the psychiatric evaluation report before we can proceed to the committal,” Galebonwe said.

Extension II Chief Magistrate Kamogelo Mmesi had issued a court order for the accused to be evaluated if he is mentally unstable or not as part of the investigations.

In light of this, Mmesi posed the question to Hwenjere if he had anything to say conjuncture to what the State said.

Just like from the first time he was arraigned, Hwenjere remained timid and shook his head off to signal that he had nothing to say.

With the accused choosing to remain quite on the matter, the State applied that be further remanded in custody until the next status update.

In closing, Magistrate Mmesi yielded to the State’s plea to further remand the accused and set a date for status update for February 19. The case continues.
