Pheko has decided to go into early retirement from politics and pursue other interests.
In a statement, the BCP has described its new spokesperson, Kelebonye, as a seasoned media professional with extensive experience in journalism and strategic communication.
Kelebonye previously served as editor at Daily News and Kutlwano; news editor at Mmegi, managing editor of The Nation newspaper (defunct); communications director at the Botswana Harvard Institute under the US Centers for Disease Control. He has been a producer with Botswana Television. Most recently, he held the position of head of communications and public relations at the Office of the Ombudsman. He has since retired from the public service to commit his time to the BCP. The party believes the recent appointment of Kelebonye is expected to revolutionise its communications, media, and public engagement function.
