Rollers cool players exit talk

The club has struggled on several occasions to meet salary obligations, leaving rivals circling, looking to poach players from the Blues.
Rollers have confirmed the departures of midfielders Mothusi Cooper and Kenneth Muguna, as well as forward Godfrey Tauyatswala, who joined Morocco’s MC Oujda, Sua Flamingoes, and Gaborone United (GU) on loan, respectively.
Beyond those confirmed moves, several players were linked with exits.
Reliable defender, Mosha Gaolaolwe, was linked with a move to Mochudi Centre Chiefs, although the deal failed to materialise.
Midfielder Omphile Visagie appeared set to join Jwaneng Galaxy before the move stalled, whilst Kabelo Dambe now looks likely to stay put after Tonota FC opted to sign Cedric Ramojela from GU.
Namibian midfielder, Marcel Papama, was strongly linked with Nico United whilst Lesotho attacking midfielder, Lehlohonolo Fothoane, returned to training after recovering from an injury and had been tipped for a move to Black Lions.
Earlier this month, MmegiSport was informed that as many as six players could leave Rollers due to non-payment of salaries, amongst other concerns.
Facing the media for the first time on Monday, Pabalinga dismissed suggestions of a mass departure.
“Rollers' issues are here, and they are live issues. I am not saying this for you, the media, to go on and twist my words.
“Some of your reports are not true; there is no mass exodus of players, but I do agree that the team is not at its best,” said Pabalinga.
He also threw his full support behind interim head coach Oarabile Seabo. At the start of the week, former Rollers coach Romain Folz was linked with a return, while former GU title-winning coach Dimitar Pantev was also tipped to join the Blues.
However, Pabalinga was categorical.
“We have seen various reports linking Rollers with those two coaches, the two gentlemen from abroad, but I can say that Rollers coach is Seabo, and it is 'Demba' who will remain as the coach. He is assisted by Edwin Moalosi and the rest of the existing technical team.
“We have no intention of bringing in anyone else,” said Pabalinga.
The business mogul and lifelong Rollers supporter has formally assumed his role as chairperson. His executive committee includes Ofentse Mosekiemang, who retains the secretary-general position, and Tshepo Mathumo as the new treasurer.
Kaizer Sekaba has been appointed public relations officer, Isaac Moreri remains an additional member, whilst Tumelo Legase and Masego Tshiping are new additions.
Pabalinga said the committee’s immediate priority is to stabilise the club and restore its appeal, anchored on sound governance and financial reform.
“We have since started by opening a new bank account so that there is proper financial traceability,” said Pabalinga.
“We are in the process of partnering with an accounting and audit firm that would instil financial discipline in how the team is run. And also produce audited financials as per Clause 17.17 of the Township Rollers constitution.”
He added that a legal expert will be co-opted into the executive committee.
