The 2012 800m Olympic Games silver medalist relocated to Iran last year after completing a coaching course in Zimbabwe.

In a brief interview with this publication, Amos said he was safe while expressing sympathy with those affected by the unrest.

“I am currently not in Iran and I am safe,” he said.

He added that his thoughts are with the people of Iran where protests have turned deadly.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Iran who are affected by the on going protests. It is very unfortunate to see lives being lost and I sincerely hope for peace, safety and a positive resolution for everyone involved,” Amos said.

Amos said due to the turmoil, it remains unclear when he will resume his duties.

“Currently I am monitoring the situation and when all things get better, I will definitely get back to work,” Amos said.

Tensions are high in Iran following widespread anti-government demonstrations which have claimed the lives of more than 500 people including children.
