The 51-year-old is currently hospitalised at Bokamoso Private Hospital.

Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Mbiganyi Letsholathebe, confirmed the accident in an interview.

He said the crash occurred when a VW Amarok, which was travelling from the opposite direction, attempted to overtake and ended up hitting a VW Polo from behind.

“The impact caused the VW Polo to drive into the oncoming lane, where it collided head-on with a Toyota Vitz,” the police chief explained.

Letsholathebe said the Toyota Vitz driver sustained serious injuries, including fractured arms and legs, and was rushed to Bokamoso Private Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

He added that the other two drivers involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged the same evening.

Letsholathebe stated that all three vehicles were being driven without passengers at the time of the accident.

Meanwhile, police investigations into the matter are ongoing. Letsholathebe has since appealed to motorists to exercise patience on the road and to ensure that overtaking is only done when it is safe.

“We continue to urge drivers to be cautious, patient and responsible, as reckless overtaking often leads to fatal accidents,” he said.
