This new initiative will provide members and affiliates access to comprehensive funeral cover, designed to guarantee a dignified send-off in the event of death, thereby addressing a critical social need within Botswana’s entertainment industry. The signing ceremony, which took place Tuesday evening in Gaborone, marked the launch of the packages, signaling a deepening collaboration between BEPA and key national institutions. One of the primary offerings, the funeral cover from Post Ensure, is available at an affordable premium of P25,000. Members pay a surprisingly low premium of P13.07. Beyond the basic cover, the package includes a double accident benefit, extending coverage to P50,000 in the event of fatal accidents, thus amplifying the financial support available to bereaved families during times of crisis.

BEPA president, Goaba Mojakgomo, said the initiative primarily benefits BEPA’s members, including promoters and affiliates who make up the vibrant entertainment community in Botswana. 'By providing funeral cover, the association addresses an often overlooked aspect of the creative sector—social and financial protection. This proactive move by BEPA comes as a reassurance that members will receive support for proper funeral arrangements without added financial stress, ensuring a respectful and dignified goodbye. The significance of these packages is further emphasised by the payment arrangement,' Mojakgomo emphasised. BEPA Deputy Secretary, Vince Mosimanewakgang, said the premiums for the entire year were paid upfront, making the coverage effective immediately from December 9, 2025. 'This immediate activation reflects BEPA’s commitment to ensuring no gap between signing and benefits, providing peace of mind to members as they continue their work in the entertainment industry,' Mosimanewakgang explained.

Furthermore, Mosimanewakgang highlighted that the motivation behind launching these packages was not only to provide financial protection but also to promote unity, growth, and maturity within the membership. He stated that such welfare initiatives encourage members to see themselves as part of a collective community that looks out for each other—enhancing solidarity while addressing practical needs. 'This collaboration paves the way for sustainable welfare schemes adaptable to the evolving needs of entertainment professionals,' he added. The timing of this welfare initiative is particularly noteworthy given BEPA’s active role in Botswana’s entertainment landscape throughout 2025. The association has hosted an impressive 175 events in 365 days, demonstrating its dynamism and central role in fostering a thriving entertainment sector. This activity underscores the critical importance of supporting members’ well-being, as they contribute actively to Botswana’s social and cultural life. For her part, National Arts Council of Botswana chief executive officer, Otsetswe Kobojankwe, reiterated the government's commitment to support the entertainment industry.

Kobojankwe described the initiative as a milestone achievement for BEPA members' welfare in Botswana’s entertainment industry. 'By combining strategic partnerships, affordable premiums, and immediate coverage, the association is setting an example of how entertainment communities can come together to safeguard the futures of their members. The initiative strengthens BEPA’s presence, not only as an event organiser but also as a champion of the social and financial security of its members,' she said.
