This comes just two weeks after a 22-year-old woman was attacked and raped whilst walking home from an entertainment spot in the area.
The latest attack occurred last Saturday night in the Maulani ward. The victim and her two friends were walking to a bar when they met an unknown man.
The man reportedly threatened them with a knife, prompting the girls to run. As they fled, the suspect allegedly grabbed the 18-year-old, dragged her into nearby bushes, and raped her before escaping.
Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Mbiganyi Letsholathebe, confirmed the incident, stating officers received the report around 11 pm.
“Investigations on the matter are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect. Even though he threatened them with a knife, he did not stab her. The victim was taken to the clinic for medical treatment,” he said.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of young women in Mogoditshane, particularly at night, following the earlier attack in Nkoyaphiri.
