Last Monday, the state investment agency unveiled support for full studio production, project management, digital distribution preparation, and promotional rollout.
Speaking at the event, BDC managing director, Oteng Keabetswe, said the Corporation’s mandate is to catalyse sectors that can scale and contribute meaningfully to national competitiveness. He said while traditionally, that meant sectors like manufacturing, services. property, agriculture and renewable energy, the BDC was now extending that mandate to the creative sector “because it has the characteristics of a viable industry: youth-driven participation, digital scalability, export potential, cross-sector linkages, and branding power”.
He said the support to Mafitlhakgosi and Eric Ramco was not just a Corporate Social Responsibility gesture but a strategic industry-building effort. Keabetswe added that Mafitlhakgosi represents the type of cultural asset that can transition from performance to commercial enterprise.
