The spy agent (names withheld), who is in his late fifties, faces a charge of raping his daughter, who is a minor. The incident allegedly took place early this year between March 1st and 31st.

It is alleged that the spy agent violated his child on numerous occasions at their place of residence in Block 10.

The agent who is now out on bail appeared before the court this morning for a status update, where the state revealed that it was yet to furnish the defence with all required documents before the matter can proceed to the Case Management Conference (CMC).

“I am holding brief for the substantive prosecutor and our position is that we have not served the defence with the witness statements and affidavits as the prosecutor holding the case has been away and could not serve them,” state prosecutor, Nelly Seabueng, said to the court.

The defence counsel Blessing Davedi complemented the State’s submissions that indeed they have not been furnished with all the required documents and asked the court to set a new date for status update, hoping that they will be served by then.

“We do confirm that we have not been furnished with all documents, and thus, meaning circumstances have not changed. With that, we plead with this court to set a new date,” Davedi said.

Taking everything into account, Regional Magistrate Mareledi postponed the matter to next year in 2026, giving prosecutions ample time to furnish the defence with all required documents.

“The case is postponed to January 20 next year, while the state is required to have served the defence before then. The accused’s bail is extended until then,” Dipate ordered. The case continues.
