The deceased, 35, is said to have been the woman's boyfriend.
According to Serowe Police Station Commander Superintendent Poloko Oteng, police received the report at 8 am on Friday. Initial investigations found that the deceased man had been stabbed with a sharp object around 12:30 am at Mmabahumi Lands, near Serowe.
Oteng said the woman only reported the incident several hours later, prompting officers to rush to the scene.
'Upon arrival, police found the deceased’s 57-year-old girlfriend, whilst in the company of a man of her age, both residing in the same area. They failed to provide a satisfactory explanation of what transpired,” Oteng said.
He added that officers immediately transported the injured man to the hospital in Serowe, but he succumbed to his wounds en route.
Police arrested the pair later that morning, who are currently assisting with the investigation. Oteng said enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to the fatal stabbing.
Oteng has urged the public to report incidents promptly to facilitate timely intervention and possibly save lives.
