The Monitor team travelled to Modipane to interview the family of the deceased, David Ditsele. Ditsele died on Saturday, a few metres from his home. Sources suggest the 51-year-old was mauled to death by dogs, an incident which his family refused to discuss in detail. Speaking to his older brother, Eric Ditsele, at their home, whilst they prepare to lay his brother to rest, the Ditsele family is still in disbelief.

'My brother is currently in the hands of the police, and so they advised us not to say much,' Ditsele shared. Pressed further, the distraught older brother shared how on Friday, he had been with his sibling as usual before he left in the evening.

'I don’t know where he was going exactly. I got the shock of my life the next day, whilst I was called by neighbours who told me he was found dead along the road, not so far from home,' the deceased's older brother shared. However, whilst asked about the dog attack, the family appears unwilling to confirm, suggesting they possibly suspect foul play.

'We don’t want to get into that one. The police are currently investigating, and we don't want to pre-empt anything, but your guess is as good as mine,' he said. For their part, Tlokweng station commander Baboneng Modiegi confirmed the incident.

'The police received a report of a man suspected of having died, and whilst we rushed to the scene, we found his body lying at the scene. We took him to the hospital, where he was verified dead,' the police boss said. Asked about the dog attack, the station commander said, 'We are currently waiting for the post-mortem result, which will determine the cause of death.'
