The tariff overhaul, one of the most extensive in recent years, follows recommendations from the regulator’s pricing and costing study completed in May 2025. In a country with one of the highest costs of data, the changes signal a shift toward greater affordability and clearer pricing. The restructuring offers significant reductions in daily and short-term bundles, categories heavily used by students, gig-economy workers, and low-income earners who buy data in small, frequent bursts. Orange’s 100MB daily bundle now costs P2.00, down from P5.00, a 60% drop that makes it one of the cheapest short-term bundles in the market.

The operator, which has the largest number of fixed mobile subscriptions in the country, has also introduced a 300MB daily option at P5.00, replacing the older 500MB bundle that was priced at P10.00. Micro-bundles such as 25MB and 500MB have been phased out as Orange shifts toward higher-value packages offering more megabytes for every pula spent. Even in the 2-day category, the pattern holds: the 1GB bundle has been discontinued and replaced with a 2.5GB option priced at P20.00, appealing to heavier users who still prefer short validity periods. BOCRA said the decision aligns with its mandate to maintain a competitive telecoms sector and ensure that consumers benefit from affordable, high-quality services. The regulator further committed to continued monitoring of market dynamics, with emphasis on preventing price distortions and encouraging fair competition.

“The Authority will continue monitoring market developments to guarantee that all consumers have access to high-quality, reliable, and affordable communication services,” BOCRA stated in a presser. Weekly and biweekly bundles have also been reshaped to mirror changing consumption habits. New 7-day options, including 2GB at P35.00 and 2.5GB at P50.00, fill gaps that previously pushed many users into either too-small daily bundles or too-expensive monthly options. In the 14-day bracket, the removal of the 1.5GB bundle is balanced by the introduction of 3GB at P66.00 and 5GB at P99.00, a middle-ground for users who need steady connectivity but are wary of long-term commitments.
