Gunners are rooted at the bottom of the log as their winless streak stretches to 10 games. They have a single win as the league season nears the half way mark.
Despite the setback, interim head coach, Stephen Maposa remained cautiously positive about his team’s performance. He said his side will turn the results around after the festive and AFCON breaks.
Maposa also said despite the defeat, the team's showing on Friday evening can only be a motivation when they return to battle relegation in January.
“It is not easy and I have said many times, but I am okay with what I saw. GU is the biggest team in the league and 1-0 of course we cannot be proud of it.
“But we know where to start and where to work on especially when we can hold a team like GU,' he said.
Gunners' downfall as the coach said, has been a misfiring strike force, and evidently the team has found the back of the net only seven times this season.
Maposa said the team will work on this and dip in to the market in the January transfer window period.
'We have to work on converting our chances. We had chances in the first half, we had chances in the second half of which it could have changed the whole complexion of the game. But like I said I am happy with the boys.
'We were prepared, but we had some problems, and those are internal problems and we will come back,' he said.
The defining moment of the match came in the 23rd minute, when Thatayaone Kgamanyane rose highly to head home a perfectly delivered free-kick from Mothusi Johnson.
That single strike proved decisive as GU controlled the rest of the game, limiting Gunners’ attempts to equalise.
Gunners created several chances in both halves, but finishing remained a concern. GU, meanwhile, remain firmly in control at the top of the table, asserting themselves as strong title contenders.
