The event scheduled for December 6, 2025, will unfold at the iconic Flamboyant Gardens, a venue long regarded as the heartbeat of major social gatherings in the village.

More than just a luncheon, the event, according to its organisers, is shaping up to be a heartfelt tribute to the elders of Thamaga, the men and women who have carried families, culture and traditions on their shoulders for decades.

Organisers say the celebration aims to restore joy, dignity and festive cheer to a demographic often overlooked during the holiday season. “Every December, the spotlight mostly falls on the youth with parties, road trips and music festivals while our elders stay home or retreat to the cattle post,” Montsosa revealed in an interview. “This event flips the script. We want our senior citizens to know they deserve their own special outing too, an elegant, joyful day dedicated entirely to them. This is our early Christmas gift to them, a celebration of their wisdom, their contributions and their place at the centre of our community.”

The gathering promises a rich tapestry of entertainment from live musicians to comedians, transforming the day into a full-scale festival of gratitude. Montsosa also revealed that traditional beer will flow, and meals will be abundant. With community members already pledging for the feast, the Masaasele presenter said he anticipates a celebration worthy of the generation it honours.

Flamboyant Gardens, renowned for its lush setting and impeccable hosting of high-profile events, is expected to come alive in spectacular fashion. 'Its expansive grounds and warm ambience make it the natural venue of choice, an elegant backdrop for a day dedicated to appreciation and festivity,' he highlighted.

With only weeks to go, anticipation is sweeping across Thamaga. For many, this initiative feels long overdue. Montsos, who is from Thamag, added that in a social calendar dominated by youth-centric and kiddies’ events, the Senior Citizens Lunch brings a refreshing sense of balance and inclusivity, reminding the nation that Botswana celebrates all ages.

He called on the business community to lend support and help elevate the event into an unforgettable milestone. 'Given the buzz already building, the December 6 celebration is poised to become a cultural curtain-raiser for the festive season and a heartwarming gesture of gratitude to the pillars of the community,' Montsosa pointed out.

“This will be a celebration of blessings upon blessings, a moment for our elders to feel honoured, cherished and seen. We want them to walk into Flamboyant Gardens and say 'today is for us',' he further noted.
