TAFIC feel the pain of losing key players

The Francistown-based side finished second behind Gaborone United (GU) last year and their poor run continued this past weekend when they lost 2-1 to Nico United. The loss came after Nico equalised three minutes after half time through Basiamisi Sebapalo’s goal and a penalty netted by Tawanda Zinaka.
TAFIC currently sit in the lower half of the Botswana Premier League (BPL) table, on position 11 with 10 points.
Many observers had warned that the club’s exodus of key players and the departure of head coach, Elias Chinyemba, would weaken the team this season. Chinyemba joined Orapa United after leading TAFIC to a second place finish.
TAFIC coach, Blessing Moyo, acknowledged in a post match interview the difficult phase encountered by the team.
“We are losing games and we are not happy about it,” he said. “The sponsors are also not happy, but we will keep working hard towards getting better results because that is what we want.”
Moyo also urged supporters to trust the process and believe the team will return to its glory days. He said they had chances in both halves but made wrong decisions that cost them goals.
“We had possession, but we couldn’t finish in the final third,” he explained.
Nico United coach, Reuben Njavera, thanked God for the win and praised his players for fighting back despite a poor first half.
“We were not playing well, but the only way was to steal the game from TAFIC,” he said.
“The players know what we demand from them and understand what is at stake. As long as they do the right thing and play well, we will succeed,” he added. Nico United are currently on position three with 23 points.
