Keeping Dan Tshanda’s legacy alive: A journey of love, music

As such, the wife of the disco legend, Sylvia Tshanda has taken it upon herself to keep her husband's legacy alive through their music company, Dalom Investment, formerly Dalom Music.

'Working with Dan was a true blessing. He was not only my husband but also my mentor and musical partner,' Sylvia recalls. With Dan's guidance, Sylvia learned the ins and outs of music production, from writing lyrics and creating melodies to managing tours and artists.

Today, she continues to manage the same groups her husband founded, including Splash, Dalom Kids, Matshikos, and Peacock, while producing new music and collaborations that bring his timeless sound to younger generations.

One of the most exciting recent projects Sylvia has been a part of is a remix of Dan's classic song 'Keneilwe' with Master KG and Nkosazana's Daughter. The remix won Song of the Year in 2023, a testament to the enduring power of Dan's music. She explained that it had been wonderful seeing how the younger generation connects with that sound.

Furthermore, she pointed out that she was also working on a new Matshikos album and a documentary with producers from the USA that will tell the story of her late husband's legacy and their journey together. 'Keeping his vision alive is not just my work; it's my life's purpose,' she emphasises.

Moreover, she pointed out that as a woman managing a legacy built by a legend, she faced her fair share of challenges. She explained that the music industry could be tough, especially for women.

'But I face every challenge with patience, hard work, and faith.' Despite the obstacles, Sylvia's passion for music and her dedication to her husband's legacy have kept her going.

Sylvia's biggest joy comes from seeing fans, both old and new, enjoying Dan's music again. 'I celebrate by giving back through the Dan Tshanda Foundation, which helps women, children, and up-and-coming artists. Every success is shared with the people who've supported us through the years,' she said.

As a seasoned manager, Sylvia offers words of wisdom to young artists looking to make a mark in the industry. 'Stay true to your sound and never forget why you started. Consistency, humility, and discipline will set you apart. And always respect those who came before you; legacies are built on respect and collaboration,' she advised.

With her unwavering commitment to her husband's legacy, Sylvia continues to inspire a new generation of music lovers. As she looks to the future, she remains focused on keeping Dan Tshanda's music alive and thriving.

Some of Sylvia's upcoming projects include, a new single titled 'Rona Batswana' in appreciation of former President, Mokgweetsi Masisi's commitment to changing the lives of Batswana, A tribute concert to celebrate Dan's life and music, featuring various Splash legends and talented artists, a documentary documentary film that tells the story of Dan's legacy and their journey together, produced in collaboration with US-based producers.

Sylvia will be hosting for the very first time since her husband's death a live music concert at Tlokweng, Royal Aria stadium on November 29, 2025.
