The hungry and hard-hitting Raokgwathile will have a chance to prove and surprise professional boxing fans once again. The 26-year-old stance is southpaw with an undefeated record of three wins.
Chimkwapulo, who is two years older than his opponent, is an orthodox with a record of nine wins, six losses and one draw.
Promoter of the event, Bond Ngubula, said the local boxers are ready, as they held one of the best training camps.
“We are expecting fireworks tomorrow, and what brings fireworks is the opponent. Chimkwapulo is a Malawi champion; he brings a lot of experience and is a tough cookie.
“Raokgwathile is also a tough cookie, just imagine what will happen when they meet,” he said.
Ngubula added he has cautioned Raokgwathile to avoid being too excited because it is his first time to headline a show.
He said the boxer has heightened confidence that works for him, and has a powerful punch, which is why he wins all his bouts by a knockout.
The promoted noted that if Raokgwathile can win with a knockout, it would elevate his rankings.
Ngubula said they have been preparing a lot for the fight night, which is the second event for the year.
“It is our 14th tournament since we started promoting boxing. If things were going according to plan, we could be in event number 35. “Unfortunately, things are slow, given our environment,” he added.
Ngubula said as a promoter, he works with a matchmaker to avoid having boring contests, adding that boxers are matched based on fighting style.
“We do not want to have a bout where both boxers are defensive; it becomes slow. You need to bring a brawler against a counterattacker. You can also bring a brawler against a brawler,' he said.
“When they get into the ring, they meet in the centre. Sometimes a technical fight can be boring, so we try to bring both styles. People need action.'
According to Ngubula, the event is sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association of Botswana (PBAB) and there were some requirements that they had to meet.
In other bouts, Lentswe Zwinila will face off against Akili Sikoshana from South Africa, with the two boxers being undefeated.
Tshephang Gomotho will be making his international debut against Fania Musekwa from Zimbabwe. Gomotho has fought three local bouts.
Other bouts will involve all-local boxers, with George Molwantwa up against Ronald Motswakae. Tefo Letshikgwane will exchange leather with Thapelo Molatlhe. Tshepiso Mokgadi will have to dig deep to stop Somolon Lere in a local welterweight contest.
The main sponsor of the event is the Ministry of Sport and Arts whilst Botswana Development Corporation is the main bout sponsor.
Brez, About Physio Clinic, Energy Systems and Fairground Holdings are venue sponsors.
