In September 2025, Debswana Diamond Company, in collaboration with De Beers Group, pledged a total contribution of P1,160,000 as a token of appreciation to Team Botswana for their outstanding performance at the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships.

Whilst the Paralympics team may not have reached the same level of achievement as the team that recently competed in Tokyo World Champs, their dedication deserves equal recognition and appreciation. As athletes living with disabilities, they have overcome immense challenges to represent our country with pride, and their efforts embody the true spirit of sport and perseverance. Debswana’s support for athletes with disabilities reflects our unwavering commitment to our diversity and inclusion agenda where we believe that talent transcends physical limitations.

Debswana has supported sport development in Botswana for close to four decades. This has been achieved through funding as well as in-kind contributions where various teams from several sporting codes have utilised Debswana's sporting facilities at the mines for their camps.

Debswana has previously supported Botswana’s Paralympics team through funding and strategic partnerships. In 2023, the company sponsored the first-ever Paralympics Games hosted by Jwaneng Mine, featuring athletics, basketball, table tennis, and football. Ahead of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Debswana collaborated with the Paralympics Association of Botswana to fund training, equipment, and psychosocial support for athletes competing in qualifying in international events. It is in this spirit that we continue to demonstrate our commitment towards sports development through this financial pledge which will be disbursed in line with the modalities/criteria agreed with Botswana Athletics Association, Paralympics Association of Botswana and Botswana National Sport Council.
