Virginerian Unveils New Single “Your Body Right”

The song, a blend of R&B and Hip-Hop, features smooth melodies and modern rhythm, and is part of a series of singles leading up to the label's debut album.
Tshekatsheko 'Path' Maineng, who is the sound engineer behind the track, said 'Your Body Right' explores the quiet intensity of an unspoken attraction and the way that connection can endure through challenges and time. The song was co-written by him and Otsile Marumo, also famed as MrOaths in the music industry. Marumo is the founder and visionary behind Virginerian, with Yung Amazing DG contributing to the bridge.
MrOaths, who has collaborated with industry greats such as Zeus, Koncrete, and Eugene Jackson, says the inspiration for the song comes from his generational love for music. 'It's in my blood, and I wanted to channel that legacy into a modern sound that resonates across generations,' he said.
The song was produced at the Virginerian Music Recording Studio in July this year, and is one of two singles that have been released by the label so far. The second single, 'Firefly', was also a collaboration between Path and MrOaths.
As an artist, MrOaths faces challenges such as limited funding for startups and a shortage of bookings for emerging talent. However, he remains committed to his craft and is focused on building a legacy that will outlive him.
'Never chase clout, chase purpose,' he advises upcoming artists. 'Learn the business side of music, not just the art. Get your paperwork right, understand your rights, and treat your craft as both passion and profession,' he said.
Virginerian's goal is to build an ecosystem in which artists can grow freely, collaborate meaningfully, and redefine what Botswana music sounds like to the world. With 'Your Body Right', the label is taking a step towards achieving that goal and positioning African artistry on a global scale
