Police want man accused of impregnating minor in Kopong

The matter came to light after the teenager’s mother reported to the police on Friday that her daughter was in a relationship with an older man, and she had recently discovered that the girl was pregnant.
According to Mogoditshane Police Station Commander, Superintendent Mbiganyi Letsholathebe, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who is known to the family, had allegedly been dating the girl since January this year.
“After receiving the report, we immediately began searching for the suspect, but we could not find him at his residence,” Letsholathebe said.
He added that whilst the search for the suspect was ongoing, the teenager gave birth on Saturday.
“We do not know the man’s exact age as yet, but efforts are continuing to locate and arrest him,” he stated.
Letsholathebe urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and to pay close attention to their children’s movements and behaviour.
“We plead with parents to take time to monitor their children closely and to seek help immediately if they notice any unusual changes in their behaviour or physical condition,” he said.
