This year's event introduced a new element to the show - a hair show that showcased the skills of two renowned hair specialists.
The hair show was a welcome gesture that added a new dimension to the event. The Make Over Place and Nuku Creation from South Africa showcased their exceptional hairstyling skills, with models sporting various hairstyles, including kinky Afro, puff gel hairstyles, and braids. The event kicked off with the Pink Walk, a campaign aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. The models wore different shades of pink outfits, creating a stunning visual display.
The Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs, Lesego Chombo, praised FWBB for its contribution to the growth of the fashion industry in Botswana. 'Fashion is a story of who we are as Batswana and Africans,' she said. 'Let your art speak boldly, young designers.'
FWBB has partnered with MR Price Group to provide mentorship, education, and hands-on training to young designers. The partnership has equipped over 25 designers with vital industry knowledge through internships at the MR Price Group Headquarters in Durban, South Africa. The event recognized the 2025 FWBA MR Price Internship Cohort, who completed their three-week program in May this year. The winners are Black Excellence Clothing, Exquisite Designs, and Rural Radiance. The event featured a fashion showcase with exquisite designs from local and international designers. The models wore stunning outfits, including earth-colored dresses, jumpsuits, and beaded earrings. Lucia Jakeni from South Africa treated the audience to a special performance, while La'Gabriella showcased earth-colored outfits with intricate details.
The Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs continues to advocate for the creative industry as a vital pillar of youth empowerment and national development. The event highlighted the importance of nurturing talent and providing structured support to young designers. FWBB has come a long way since its inception 11 years ago. The event has become a platform for designers to showcase their talent and for the fashion industry to grow and evolve. Tonight was indeed a celebration of fashion, and the audience was treated to a spectacular display of creativity and style.
