The Lobatse side received a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Morupule Wanderers at the GU Stadium on Saturday evening, leaving them sitting in the relegation zone. The defeat was Gunners’ fourth of the season from just eight games. They remain winless in their last three outings. Currently sitting 14th, they are just two points shy of safety.
Off the pitch, financial constraints continue to dog the club following their split with businessman Chief Ally Kgomongwe in late September.
Head coach, Mike Sithole, is also still waiting for his work permit and was forced to watch from the stands.
The game started brightly for the Lobatse giants, however. Within 15 minutes, Kabelo Babusi was brought down in the box, but the referee waved away Gunners’ claims for a penalty.
Despite some encouraging spells, the visitors struck late in the first half. Midfielder Thato Bannani rose highest to head home from a corner in the 40th minute, putting Morupule ahead. Just before the break, Baboloki Makhura found the bottom corner to make it 2-0, giving the visitors a comfortable lead at half-time.
Morupule picked up where they left off after the interval. Bonang Theetso slotted home a sublime finish in the 54th minute, before Goncalves Domingo Chissele raced through the Gunners’ defence in the 66th minute to wrap up a crushing 4-0 victory.
