The Mares’ goalkeeper has been nominated for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year accolade in this year’s CAF Awards.

Boseja, who plays for South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, has delivered breathtaking saves and unshakable composure

The player also showed leadership at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals despite Mares’ early exit.

She is up against Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie and Sundowns’ teammate Andile Dlamini of South Africa among others for the accolade.

Domestic pride, Red Roses are making history with a nod for Women’s Club of the Year.

Under coach, William Monene, the Mares have stormed through the COSAFA Women’s Champions League Cup, becoming the first team from Botswana to lift a major regional trophy.

An unbeaten season, 61 goals scored, and a trail of inspired performances have cemented their place amongst Africa’s elite.

Individual brilliance continues to shine with Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse, who finished as the leading goalscorer in the Champions League qualifiers alongside, Jessica Maponga, have earned nominations for Women’s Interclub Player of the Year.

The pair was instrumental in Red Roses’ historic Champions League finals qualification.

CAF’s awards celebrate performances from January 6 to 15 October 2025 and recognise excellence in African women’s football.
