Founded by three passionate young Batswana, Resego Moepeng, Karabo Segwate, and Motheo Masalila, the organisation is driven by a vision to reach communities across the country and bridge the gaps where help is most needed.

In an interview, Masalila said their organisation has been working tirelessly to address pressing social issues, especially those affecting women and youth.

“Our goal is to fill in the gaps where there is a need and eventually become a nationwide establishment that reaches almost every corner of the country,” she said.

Masalila, who is one of the founders, revealed that the organisation partnered with various stakeholders, including SOS Children’s Village.

Additionally, she stated they imported educational materials to raise awareness on gender-based violence (GBV), a social ill that continues to affect many lives globally. “So far, we have donated sanitary pads to women and girls in Tlokweng and distributed condoms across tertiary institutions such as Botswana Accountancy College (BAC).

“We have also conducted educational campaigns to teach the public about GBV and how to combat it,” Masalila said.

She added that community collaboration plays a key role in realising their mission. Therefore, Masalila appealed to individuals, companies, and government institutions to support their initiatives through donations of sanitary pads, clothes, and other essential items.

“For our period pride campaign, we are in need of sanitary pads, and we prefer donations in kind rather than money.

“We will also be hosting a GBV seminar soon to further educate people about GBV as a growing concern in the country,” she said.

Hopeful Horizons aims to expand its reach to as far as Kasane, continuing its humanitarian work by providing sanitary pads to girls who cannot afford them, distributing clothing to the less privileged, and promoting safe sex practices to help curb the spread of HIV/AIDS.

“With the support of the public, we believe we can grow and make a difference. Any form of support or donation is highly appreciated, as it will enable us to continue restoring dignity and transforming lives,” she said.
