The Administration of Justice is hosting the forum in Gaborone, bringing together members of the legal fraternity from across Southern and Eastern Africa. The two-day event is part of the Southern and Eastern Africa Chief Justice's Forum and focuses on key issues affecting the justice system.
This year’s theme, 'Judicial Independence and Accountability in Safeguarding the Rule of Law', sets the tone for robust discussions around how courts can stay independent while remaining accountable to the public they serve.
For his part, President Duma Boko also addressed the gathering, reaffirming Botswana’s commitment to justice and the rule of law. He noted that a strong, independent legal system is essential for democracy and sustainable development.
The forum has drawn participation from across the legal sector, including judges, lawyers, legal scholars, and court administrators, to share experiences, tackle shared challenges, and build stronger justice systems. The event continues with sessions focusing on judicial reform, strengthening public trust in courts, and promoting accountability across the region.
