Confirming the incident, Serowe Police Station commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng, said the accident occurred about two kilometres after Mmashoro village towards Letlhakane. He explained that both vehicles, a Toyota Hilux and a Toyota GD6, were travelling in the same direction when the collision happened.

“The driver of a Toyota Hilux, who was in front with two passengers, attempted to turn right when his vehicle collided with a Toyota GD6 that was overtaking from behind,” Oteng said.

He revealed that the 68-year-old Hilux driver died on the spot, whilst the 40-year-old GD6 driver from Monneng ward in Lerala and the deceased’s two passengers sustained minor injuries. The trio was treated and discharged from the hospital on the same day.

Oteng urged motorists to be vigilant on the road and to avoid reckless driving behaviours that often lead to fatal accidents.

“We continue to lose lives on our roads. I urge all drivers to exercise caution, obey road signs, use mirrors appropriately, and avoid speeding,” he said.
