Two women killed in separate love-related murders

Maunatlala police station commander, Superintendent Omphile Galani, confirmed the incidents, describing them as deeply troubling cases of gender-based violence.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday around 3am in Mogapinyana. A 33-year-old man from Tamasane village allegedly struck his 28-year-old girlfriend with a stone on the head.during an argument.
“The Mogapinyana native had sustained a deep wound on her head. She was rushed to Palapye Primary Hospital where she was certified dead on arrival by the doctors,” Galani said.
He added that police arrested the suspect later that same morning, and he is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
In another tragic case reported Monday night in Lerala village, police received a report around 11:30pm after a violent domestic dispute turned fatal. Galani explained that the couple, both residents of Lerala, had allegedly started fighting at a local bar earlier in the evening before continuing their quarrel at the girlfriend’s house in Monneng ward.
“The 29-year-old man ended up stabbing his 24-year-old girlfriend to death with a sharp object,” Galani revealed.
Both suspects have been charged with a single count of murder each and are expected to appear before the Palapye Magistrates Court on Thursday.
