She told Mmegi Sport this week that for her to be successful, the team should qualify for the World Cup.
Mosahle-Samm said as an indication that the team is moving in the right direction, Botswana should be challenging the top three netball-playing countries in Africa.
“Working with the Botswana senior netball team has been amazing. It is always a great honour to work with such amazing athletes.
“My expectation is to end on a podium placement at the Africa Cup in December,” she said.
Regarding the training camp that was held in Jwaneng, Mosahle-Samm said the training went well.
She said although tough, what made her excited was how the players were willing to learn more and how they were able to absorb all the pressure that came with the change.
Botswana Netball Association (BONA) president, Mpopi Moatlhodi, said they expect Mosahle-Samm to improve the performance of Dinaledi, such that they are able to qualify for the 2027 World Cup.
“What will make it easy for us to achieve this is support, especially financially. We need to provide the team and the coach with all the necessary resources. Therefore, we are appealing to the business community and the public at large to help us,” Moatlhodi said.
She said there would be another training camp this month with a friendly match against Eswatini on September 27 and 28 in Jwaneng.
When asked why national activities are held in Jwaneng, not the national netball centre in Gaborone, Moatlhodi explained that the mining town is where the team camps courtesy of Jwaneng Mine.
“That is something we are grateful for. We currently do not have funds to move the camp to Gaborone or anywhere else. Logistically, it is cheaper and more convenient to host our friendly games at a place where the team is based,” Moatlhodi said.
Meanwhile, Moatlhodi said they are looking at launching the league soon.
The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) has recently released subsidies for National Sport Associations, and Moatlhodi said the money would assist the association to achieve some of its objectives, such as running a league for development teams.
“The grant is not a lot of money when looking at our needs; however, the grant will surely be helpful in promoting and developing netball,” she said.
