The deceased, who lived alone at his farm, was found lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds to his neck and throat after his neighbours rushed to his aid upon hearing him scream.

New-Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari, confirmed the incident and said they have since launched a probe to trace and arrest the suspect or suspects who are still at large.

“We received a report of the matter on Saturday, around 8 pm, from one of his neighbours. The deceased’s neighbours said they heard him screaming for help and phoned each other to check on him. By the time they arrived at his yard, they found him lying in a pool of blood,” Rari said.

He revealed that preliminary investigations established the farmer had been stabbed twice with a sharp object, sustaining fatal injuries to the neck and throat. He further disclosed that he had also discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing.

“At this point, we cannot say whether he was attacked by robbers or what the motive behind the killing was. We have launched a full probe to locate and arrest his killer or killers. We are also appealing to members of the public in the area to assist us with any information that could help us make a breakthrough in this horrible murder,” Rari added.
