The suspect was allegedly found with a 30kg bag of dagga and 13 sachets of the drug, which he failed to account for.

Following the arrest, No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Mmoloke Sebako, told The Monitor that the amount of the seized substance suggests that the suspect may be a drug dealer.

“We suspect that he is a drug dealer, looking at the quantity of the illicit substance found in his possession. Drug use remains a concern in Botswana, and my policing area is not spared. It is more common amongst the youth, and sadly, it continues to destroy lives. We plead with people to refrain from trading in drugs and instead help save lives,” Sebako said.

He added that they will continue to arrest and bring drug dealers before courts, sending a clear message to members of the public to refrain from dealing with drugs.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
