Located at Karong Clinics, this facility has been designed to ensure easy accessibility and convenience for people residing in and around Gaborone at large. The clinic has facilities that are supported by advanced equipment put in place for both manual and exercise-based therapies. The launch highlights a significant milestone for the clinic, but also highlights the role physiotherapists play in enhancing the quality of life of people recovering from injury, which could possibly be from falls, surgery, or worse, chronic conditions.
During the launch, one of the physiotherapists, Catherine Mafela, gave a brief presentation on “Aging Strong and Avoiding Falls.” She implied that their role as physiotherapists is to provide a personalised programme for their clients to follow in regard to their healing journey. Mafela further highlighted that physiotherapists provide functional movement training and also teach their clients proper ways to walk, therefore avoiding falls at large. One of the recovered patients, Phumilani Mmolawa, who had spinal surgery, also described Aurora as one of the best offering physiotherapies in the country, as they gave her hope when she thought she would never walk again in her life, a situation that she describes as traumatising for her and the people around her at large. “I could not walk, came to Aurora physiotherapy, and upon my arrival, an assessment was done. I was given a bed, and a physiotherapist came to my rescue, starting with our first session. Within two weeks, having undergone a total of five sessions, my legs were no longer wobbling,” she highlighted. Phumilani further went on to thank Aurora for restoring her body to its normal functioning self and encouraged the staff to continue doing the great work they are doing.
Aurora’s mission is to provide exceptional physiotherapy and rehabilitation services that inspire, support, and empower their patients to achieve optimal physical health and well-being at large. The clinic’s vision is to be recognised as a leading physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre, setting the standard for excellence in patient care, innovation, and outcomes.
