No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Mmoloke Sebako, confirmed the incident, saying police received the report at around 3:25 am.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the two men were consuming alcohol with others when a misunderstanding broke out and escalated into a fight. Sebako said the suspect is alleged to have stabbed the victim with a sharp object, leading to his death.
“We have since arrested the suspect who had fled the crime scene. He was arrested on Sunday, and he is currently in police custody facing a single count of murder as investigations into the matter continue,” Sebako said.
He further revealed that the motive behind the fatal altercation is still under police investigation. Meanwhile, Sebako pleaded with men who are usually the perpetrators of violent crimes to consider leaving offensive weapons behind when they go out for a night.
'Men are always in possession of offensive weapons like knives, which they are quick to use whenever they are involved in a misunderstanding,' he said.
