No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Mmoloke Sebako, said the incident was reported around 1am after a passerby discovered the victim lying by the roadside and alerted the police.

“Although we don't know exactly what transpired, we suspect that the victim may have been walking along the roadside or attempting to cross when he was hit by the vehicle,” he said.

Sebako added the accident occurred not far from a local bar, raising suspicion that the victim could have been walking home from the establishment at the time.

The man sustained a fractured right thigh and is currently admitted to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

Sebako said police have launched investigations to trace the driver and are appealing to members of the public for assistance.

“We are pleading with anyone who might have witnessed the accident to come forward with information that could help us locate the driver,” he urged.
