The Miss Universe pageant is scheduled to take place on November 21, where Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark will crown her successor at the end of the event. Andries was crowned Miss Universe Botswana 2025 over the weekend at Adansonia Hotel. She outshone other contestants during the final top three questions and answers session. Her brilliant response made it clear she was destined to take the crown home.
Surprisingly, there was no sign of Andries' predecessor, Dr. Thanolo Keutlwile, to hand over the crown to the new beauty queen. The runners-up for the competition were Dabilo Moses and Wangu Modise, respectively.
The eventful day began with performances from local artists, including Detective Mjein, Tse Ditona Tsa Kalawa, and Samie.
The beauty queens also gave the attendees a memorable show, parading on stage and showcasing cultural fashion, swimwear, and evening gowns.
Following her win, Andries expressed immense gratitude and appreciation for the support Batswana gave her throughout her journey.
She admitted to feeling nervous, as it was still new for her to participate in such an event, but said she was slowly taking it all in.
Speaking about her journey as a Miss Universe Botswana finalist, she said she was very proud of the woman she has become.
“I'm grateful to the Miss Universe Botswana Team and to all my sister finalists who were part of my journey and challenged me to become the best version of myself,' she continued.
Andries is set to represent Botswana in Thailand in November.
She stated that her focus going forward would be on preparations for the international stage.
Given the current economic challenges faced by Botswana due to declining diamond sales, Andries plans to use the Miss Universe platform to market Botswana on a global stage. She noted that the platform is one of the top five global marketing spots, with over one billion online followers across 190 countries.
'This is a platform I am eager to use to promote Botswana's natural diamonds by sharing my own story of how I've benefited from them stand here today because of all the opportunities our diamonds have provided for me,' she said.
As part of her win, Andries was appointed as the ambassador for Sunbet Botswana for a year, granted VIP access to all Sunbet events, and awarded a holiday package to stay in all Sun International hotels in South Africa.
