The decision to postpone the event comes as a result of the recent significant increase in aviation fuel costs, which has adversely affected the budget projections for the airshow.
According to a press release from the Francistown Airshow Organising Committee, the increase in fuel costs has made it challenging for the organisers to proceed with the event as planned.
The Francistown Airshow organising committee managing director, William Maje confirmed that the event will be rescheduled for a later date, which will be announced soon.
'We are currently in active negotiations with our funding partners to secure financial support and we are confident that the airshow will be held before the end of this year,' said Maje.
Maje further explained that the committee is working hard to ensure that the airshow takes place as soon as possible.
'We understand that many people were looking forward to attending the airshow and we apologise for any inconvenience this postponement may cause,' he said.
He stated that they have two options for those who purchased tickets.
'Those who wish to obtain a refund may do so by submitting their request directly to Web tickets. On the other hand, those who are willing to retain their tickets may hold on to them as they will remain valid for the rescheduled date, which will be announced soon,' he stated.
The Francistown Airshow is a popular event that showcases the country's aviation industry and provides a platform for aviation enthusiasts to come together and celebrate their passion for flying. Therefore, the postponement of the event is a disappointment for many, but the organisers are working hard to ensure that it takes place as soon as possible.
The activity is expected to attract a large crowd and provide a boost to the local economy. It will also provide an opportunity for aviation enthusiasts to come together and celebrate their passion for flying.
