Addressing members of the media this morning (Wednesday), Makgekgene stated that the two institutions have however buried the hatched and set bounderies.

“The other issue that is always making rounds is the relationship between the DCEC and DIS. The DCEC and DIS enjoy a cordial working relationship. The context of sharing this position is that previously the DCEC experienced challenges in this area,” she said.

Makgenene further stated that despite reports of the existence of the big brother mentality by the DIS over the DCEC both institutions have now set their parameters.

“Both these institutions play a distinct but crucial role mandated by their respective statutes. We therefore operate in our own lanes to achieve the mandates prescribed by our statutes and complement each other as and when necessary,” she stated.

Makgekgenene pleaded with Batswana to give her organisation time to complete investigations. “A lot has been said on the social media on certain high-profile investigations that we are pursuing, I would like to confirm that the DCEC is investigating some high-profile persons. These investigations, although at an advanced stage, are still ongoing. It is important that we preserve the integrity of the investigations and I ask for your indulgence in this regard. We will update you on conclusion of these matters,” she said.
