Police nab two with dagga worth P70,000

The duo, aged 34 and 35, were intercepted during a stop, question, and search operation at the CA Sales traffic lights near Game City Mall on Saturday afternoon.
They were reportedly travelling in an Altezza vehicle from the southern part of the country when police stopped them around 1 pm.
Confirming the incident, No.12 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Mmoloke Sebako, said the suspects were found with large wrapped sachets of suspected dagga weighing about 40 kilogrammes.
“The duo failed to account for the substances when interrogated by the police. The 40kg suspected dagga has a street value of P70,000. The police have since confiscated the substance, and it will soon be taken to the laboratory for weighing and analysis,” Sebako said.
He added that, given the large quantity of the substance, police strongly suspect the men might be involved in the illicit drug trade.
Sebako further noted that most locals involved in such crimes smuggle drugs into the country from South Africa, and the two men might have been coming from that side.
The duo is currently in police custody whilst investigations continue and will soon appear before the Extension II Magistrate's Court for arraignment.
